Benefits of Yoni Breathing:

  • Brings more sensation into your vagina.

  • Trains you to breathe more deeply during sex- strengthening your orgasms.

  • Releases old tensions and traumas from your vagina.

  • Brings a renewed, fresh feeling to your vagina. 

Mouth breathing benefits:

  • Your jaw and mouth are connected to your pelvic floor- if you clench them, you will naturally clench your pelvic floor(try it!) so if you breathe through your mouth this relaxes your jaw and thereby your pelvic floor. 

  • It’s easier to breathe through your nose and stay in your head- when you breathe through your mouth it often brings you more into your body and sensations.

  • That said, if you need to tone down the breathing, then of course, you can breathe through your nose. 

Squeezing the pelvic floor:

  • It’s important to learn to pull upwards when you squeeze, this is a big key to training your pelvic floor properly and it’s really a matter of practice to change this habit. 

  • Relaxation is also something the comes with practice and really letting go in the practice is key. 

How to practice the Yoni Breath:

  • Before beginning the practice, take a few minutes to scan your body and take note of sensations (or lack thereof).

  • Breath in and out of the vagina- as though there is a mouth in your vagina.

  • Inhale and contract the pelvic floor, exhale and relax the pelvic floor.

  • Emphasize the relaxation.

  • If it feels comfortable, tilt the pelvis down and arch the spine on the inhale, relax and press the pelvic floor down on the exhale.

  • You can lie in three different positions; lying flat with the legs straight, lying with the soles of the feet on the floor with the knees raised to the sky, lying down with the feet crossed under the thighs.

  • Inhale for a count of 4 and relax for a count of 8.

  • I recommend doing this breath for 3-5 minutes (or longer). Afterward ask yourself:

    • What feels different?

    • Is there anything my pussy would like to tell me?

    • What else do I need right now?
