The Seasons of Sexuality and Orgasm: Honoring Your Natural Cycles

Newsletter No. 6 - May 13, 2025

Every year, nature reminds us of the wisdom of cycles. Spring erupts with new life and possibility; summer dazzles in full bloom; autumn invites retrospection, and winter becomes both a time of rest and preparation. Sexuality, much like nature, unfolds in cycles—fluid and diverse, shaped by personal experiences, energy, and readiness. Each season imparts its unique lessons, challenges, and opportunities for pleasure.

For women especially, this cyclical rhythm is mirrored in monthly cycles, life stages, and hormonal shifts. Honoring these transitions can create space for self-love, deeper intimacy, and profound joy. However, when we resist or get "stuck" in a particular season, we might feel disconnected, depleted, or even frustrated.

Let's explore the seasons of sexuality, how they manifest, and how aligning with these rhythms can unlock your truest, most radiant self.

We have been enjoying a long and fragrant spring here in the Maiella. Mountains are still snow capped (and skiable if you don’t mind hiking for an hour to reach snow).

The Seasonal Cycles of Sexuality

Spring

This is the spring of your sexuality. It’s about feeling electric, alive, and full of possibility. It’s an invitation to reclaim your sexual self with gentle curiosity, free of judgment. Whether it’s trying something new or taking the first steps toward reconnecting with your inner desires after a period of stillness or burnout, spring is about waking up and stepping into your potential with excitement and hope.

Signs You May Be in Your Spring:

  • Rekindled pleasure or desire.

  • A playful curiosity regarding your body.

  • Pursuing new pathways to intimacy.

How to Thrive in Spring:

Celebrate each awakening, allowing yourself the grace to explore at your own pace. Whether nurturing an internal dialogue about sexuality or relishing blossoming sensations, embrace your journey of becoming. Be in the moment and let go of expectations.

Summer

Summer shines brightly in full bloom, embodying the peak of pleasure and connection. This season is one of abundance and spontaneity, where sexuality feels magnetic, vibrant, and empowered.

Though summer offers exuberance, staying in perpetual summer can be exhausting. The constant drive to "perform" may sever authentic joy, leading to fatigue. Our culture drives us to always seek our summer season, but without the ebb and flow, the true peak is never achieved.

Signs You May Be in Your Summer:

  • Sexual and orgasmic expression feels effortless.

  • You're drawn to share and connect openly.

  • Confidence radiates in both intimacy and daily interactions.

How to Thrive in Summer:

Relish the abundance! Use this season to deepen connections, explore fantasies, and enjoy your body unapologetically. But avoid overextending yourself; balance passion with mindfulness.

Autumn

Autumn invites release. It’s a time of reflection, letting go of what no longer serves, feeling gratitude for past experiences and nurturing personal growth. Your sexuality in autumn may involve stepping back and reevaluating your desires. This is not a time of loss but of profound transformation.

Signs You May Be in Your Autumn:

  • You feel a need to slow down and reflect on your boundaries.

  • Old beliefs about sexuality or intimacy surface for processing.

  • There’s a desire to pause external performance and explore inner truth.

How to Thrive in Autumn:

Engaging in deep self-reflection and embodiment practices is key here. Journaling, somatic coaching, or simply allowing time to rest can help you acknowledge and release old patterns.

Winter

Winter is rest and integration. Though often regarded as stagnant, winter is a sacred pause that paves the way for rejuvenation. It's a time to nurture your body, honor solitude, and prepare for future cycles of connection and joy.

Some people resist winter, feeling uncomfortable in its stillness. Yet, winter is vital for replenishing energy, gaining clarity, and building resilience for new sexual awakenings.

Signs You May Be in Your Winter:

  • Craving rest or disconnection from sexual or emotional performance.

  • Feeling introspective, perhaps prioritizing your body’s overall health.

  • A desire to nurture yourself without external demands.

How to Thrive in Winter:

Lean into self-care. Listen to your soma (body and mind) by honoring its wisdom and rest cycles. Practices like meditation, yoga, and cozy solitude create the foundation for spring’s renewal.

When We Get Stuck in a Season

Sometimes, we become stuck in a single "season" that no longer serves us. You might feel disconnected and unable to transition from a dormant winter or overtaxed, endlessly performing in a perpetual summer.

Getting "stuck" can lead to feelings of frustration, shame, or exhaustion. However, with intention, self-compassion, and guidance, it’s possible to return to flow.

Overcoming Common Blocks:

  • Perfectionism Pressure: If you're caught in "always-on" summer energy, give yourself permission to release expectations.

  • Fear of Exploration: Stuck in winter? Start small. Rediscover intimacy with a gentle self-care ritual.

  • Resistance to Change: If you're clinging to autumn’s reflection, take one small step toward reawakening spring energy (perhaps through self-touch or trying something new).

Transitions don’t happen overnight. Moving between seasons is a process of curiosity and self-love.

Transitioning through the seasons of your sexuality is a profound act of self-love. Wherever you find yourself – budding with new curiosity, radiating with confidence, reflecting deeply, or resting completely – honor that space. Learn to trust where you are, knowing that every season brings you closer to alignment, truth, and pleasure.

If moving through these seasons resonates with you somatic coaching offers tools and practices to integrate these cycles into your life, helping you fully embody your sexual essence.
